The Tomb of Ariel is a massive sanctuary devoted to Ariel, the Demon of Dread. It is one of the most narratively loaded locations in Shadow Slave cosmology.
History
- Built before the Doom War as a symbolic tomb
- Aletheia (First Seeker of the Nine) enters it and discovers the gods' Flaw: the existence of the Forgotten God and his children
- That discovery triggers the Doom War
- Aletheia is later corrupted there, becoming the source of Defilement
Vol 7
Vol 7 bears the official title 'The Tomb of Ariel'. Sunny and his cohort end up there during the Third Nightmare, confronted with cosmic secrets and the First Seeker (a vast formless mass of red flesh overrunning the world).
Symbolism
The Tomb of Ariel is the point of origin of the cosmic plot: it is where the gods' lies were exposed. Sunny's visit closes a narrative loop opened in the story's earliest pages.
